Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at tiffany@theceramicpanic.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. We provide all necessary tools, clay, and aprons. If you have long hair, consider tying it back for safety.

Ceramics require multiple steps, including drying, bisque firing, glazing, and a final firing. Typically, your piece will be ready for pickup within 2-3 weeks. We will notify you when it’s available.

Yes! While we provide all materials, you’re welcome to bring your own clay or tools. However, all outside clay must be studio-approved to ensure compatibility with our firing process.

  • Full refunds for cancellations 7+ days before the class.
  • 50% refunds for cancellations 48 hours–7 days before.
  • Store credit for cancellations within 48 hours.
    No-shows or same-day cancellations are non-refundable.

The firing temperature at Ceramic Panic will depend on the type of clay and glaze used. Here’s a general guideline:

  • Bisque Firing: ~ 1,945°F (1060°C) – Cone 04

    • This is the first firing that transforms raw clay into a durable, porous ceramic body, ready for glazing.
  • Glaze Firing:

    • Mid-Fire (Preferred for Studio Work): ~ 2,102–2,192°F (Cone 5-6)
      • Ideal for durability and vibrant glazes. Most studio glazes and functional ceramics are fired at this range.
    • Low-Fire (If Needed for Special Glazes): ~ 1,820–1,910°F (Cone 06-05)
      • Used for specific bright-colored glazes or decorative pieces that don’t require high durability.
    • High-Fire (Limited Availability): ~ 2,300–2,400°F (Cone 9-10)
      • Suitable for stoneware and specialty glazes, but may be offered only on request.

We primarily fire at mid-range (Cone 5-6) for durability and a wide range of glaze options. If you have specific firing needs, let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate!

Yes, our ceramics are microwave and dishwasher safe. However, to prolong the life of your piece, we recommend hand washing whenever possible.
